Polish debate on export of child benefits shows need to rethink EU rules
The Polish government has failed to agree a clear line on whether the country's new child benefit payment ought to also be paid out for children living abroad, with the country’s deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki arguing that Poland “cannot afford to help out the British state.” Open Europe's Pawel Swidlicki argues that this demonstrates the need to rethink EU rules on access to benefits.
